Best Reddit citation tracking tools in 2026: 7 compared on thread, domain and creator attribution

Three products get sold as Reddit tracking, and only one tells you which thread AI quoted. Seven tools compared on price, engines and what a citation resolves to. Verified against vendor pages, 18 August 2026.

Three different products get sold as "Reddit tracking", and only one tells you whether an AI quoted your thread. Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks Reddit results inside Google Search. Peec AI and Siftly report reddit.com as a cited source. Sauce, Scribble Network and Plug resolve a citation to the specific thread and the person who wrote it, from $49/mo, $1,500+/mo and $0 in early access. Prices verified 18 August 2026.

Reddit citation tracking is the practice of running a fixed set of buyer questions against AI engines and logging whether the answer cited a specific Reddit thread, so a brand can tell which threads are actually doing the work. It is not social listening, which counts what gets said on Reddit. It is not rank tracking, which counts where Reddit sits in Google. Those are three separate measurements, and this post is mostly about telling them apart before you pay for the wrong one.

It matters because Reddit is where a large share of the answer comes from. Reddit is referenced in roughly 40% of AI answers (Semrush, 150,000 citations, via MaxAEO), and it accounted for about 44% of Google AI Overviews' social-media citations in January 2026 (Tinuiti Q1 2026, via MediaPost). Meanwhile only 38% of the pages cited in Google's AI Overviews also rank in its top 10 (Ahrefs, via Search Engine Journal), so the other 62% sit outside the rankings most teams watch.

We build one of the seven Reddit citation tracking tools below, so read this with that in mind. Plug is not at the top, it loses on two of the comparisons outright, and the section on what none of these tools can do includes ours.

Every price, engine count and feature claim comes from the vendor's own live pages, fetched on 18 August 2026 and date-stamped for that reason. This category re-prices constantly. Where a vendor's public pages do not describe a capability, this post says "not stated on their public pages", which is not the same as the product being unable to do it. We checked marketing sites. We did not audit products.

"Reddit tracking" means three different things

Sort every tool into one of three levels before comparing anything, because the levels answer different questions and only the third one closes a reporting loop. A tool at level one cannot be judged against a tool at level three. They are not competing, and a roundup that lists them in one table is comparing a ruler to a thermometer.

LevelThe question it answersWhat you get backTools here
1. Reddit inside GoogleWhere does my brand show up in the Reddit results Google displays?A SERP positionAhrefs Brand Radar (Reddit in SERPs, beta, per its December 2025 announcement)
2. Reddit as a source bucketHow often is reddit.com cited when AI answers questions about us?A domain and a countPeec AI, Siftly, Pierview
3. Thread and creator levelWhich thread got cited, on which engine, and who wrote it?A URL, an engine, a personSauce, Scribble Network, Plug

Level two is where most buyers stop, and it is the level that produces the most confident wrong decisions. "reddit.com cited 22 times" tells you the platform matters. You already knew the platform matters. It does not tell you which of your fourteen seeded threads earned those citations, which means it cannot tell you what to do more of.

There is also a fourth thing sold into the same search results, and it is not measurement at all. Some tools write and post Reddit comments on your behalf. That is covered near the end, separately, because buying it instead of measurement is the single most expensive mix-up in this category.

The comparison table

Compare at the price you would actually pay, not the homepage maximum, because engine counts in this category are tier-gated and routinely differ by a factor of five between the headline and the entry tier. Verified from vendor pages, 18 August 2026.

Published entry prices in this table run from $0 to $1,500 a month, and three of the seven do not publish a price at all. That spread is the best argument for working out which level you are shopping at before you take a demo, because a level-two suite and a level-three tracker will both answer "do you track Reddit?" with a yes.

Level 3: the tools that resolve a citation to a thread and a person

These three let you nominate the specific off-site content you want watched, then attribute each citation to the post and the person behind it. That is a different data model from discovery, and it is the only level that answers "who should I commission again?"

Sauce: the closest match, and the one to beat

From $49/mo. Sauce (by Fan Out) positions itself as "Track How Your Off-Site Content Performs in AI Search", which is the same job in nearly the same words as Plug. If you are shopping at level three, this is the comparison that matters most.

Sauce's homepage, headlined "Prove your social content drives AI search citations", above a dashboard card crediting citations to a named creator

Reddit is named explicitly, as one of 14 platforms: Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, G2, Capterra, Software Advice, GetApp, TrustRadius, Trustpilot, Quora, Substack, beehiiv and Kit. Their workflow maps each piece of content "to the employee, customer, or independent creator behind it, so every citation credits a real person."

TierPriceEnginesChecks/moSeed queriesTracked URLs
Starter$49/mo3525 per cluster25 per cluster
Pro$99/mo6 (adds ChatGPT, AI Mode, Copilot)1550 per clusterUnlimited
Team$299/mo6Unlimited100 per clusterUnlimited

Creator-level attribution and CSV export are on Starter, the cheapest tier, which is worth noting because most categories gate the good feature upward.

One thing to know before you buy: the meter is checks, not prompts. Five checks a month is a spot-check product, not a monitoring product. It tells you what was true on five days out of thirty. Whether that is enough depends on how fast you expect answers to move, and answers move.

Where Sauce is genuinely ahead of Plug, and it is a real list: Search Console and AI referral traffic import, content briefs generated from near-miss queries, creator leaderboards with movement, sales-transcript-to-query on Pro and Team, fan-out query variants, multi-brand workspaces, and 14 publicly enumerated platforms against our zero. If you want the citation data connected to branded search lift, they do that and we do not.

One caution if you are checking our work: Sauce's features page says citation tracking runs against four engines on every plan, while its pricing page lists Starter as three. We cite the pricing page and leave the discrepancy for them to resolve.

Scribble Network: a different purchase entirely

$1,500+/mo at the Custom tier, the only tier whose price rendered when we checked. Scribble Network does creator-level attribution, displaying per-creator citation counts by handle, and Reddit is one of eight publishing surfaces alongside X, Medium, Substack, Paragraph, YouTube, Instagram and Quora. Its Sources panel shows Reddit citation share directly.

Scribble's homepage, headlined "Your customer asks AI first. Be the answer.", offering citation-ready content through 50,000 creators, above a model visibility dashboard

But it is not a like-for-like alternative, because it also produces the content. Your citation gaps become bounty briefs, and a creator network competes to fill them, with payouts tied to citation performance rather than flat rates. Five engines are tracked (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok), with Claude marked "coming soon" in their own FAQ.

A buyer choosing between Scribble and the other two here is choosing between measurement and a managed programme, which is a budget question before it is a product question. Their published customer logos are Web3 brands, which is worth knowing if you are in B2B SaaS and expecting sector-matched benchmarks. Their headline results, including a claimed 20% citation share case study, are vendor claims and we are not repeating them as findings.

Plug: daily checks at $0, and no published platform list

$0 during early access. We build it, so here is the shape of it plainly. Three engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode), unlimited tracked posts, unlimited buyer queries, runs daily through monthly on a cadence you set, creator attribution, drop alerts, stakeholder reports and CSV export.

Plug's homepage, headlined "Track your off-site content", beside a card showing that 62% of AI Overview citations come from pages outside Google's top 10

The workflow is URL-seeded: you paste links to off-site content and tag the creator behind each one, enter the customer queries you want monitored, then watch which posts got cited on which engine. A Reddit thread goes in exactly the way a YouTube video or a G2 review does, because the input is a URL rather than a platform integration.

Two honest weaknesses, both of which should affect your decision:

  1. We do not publish a list of supported platforms. Sauce enumerates 14. We enumerate none. If you want a contractual answer to "do you support Reddit, Quora and TrustRadius", theirs is on the page and ours is not.
  2. The $0 is an early-access period, not a free tier. It will convert to paid and no date has been set or published. Our pricing page commits to giving notice before anything changes, which is a promise about how you will be told, not about whether a price arrives. Do not build a multi-quarter budget on it. The taxonomy for this is in free AI visibility tools, where we put ourselves in the least flattering bucket for the same reason.

Where Plug is ahead, verifiable from both pricing pages: daily checks at $0 against 5 checks a month at $49, with unlimited checks starting at Sauce's $299 Team tier. ChatGPT is included at our entry point and sits on Sauce's $99 Pro tier. Unlimited buyer queries against 25 seed queries per cluster.

That is the whole honest comparison at level three: we win on frequency, price and entry-tier engine coverage, they win on integrations, briefs, leaderboards and platform transparency.

Level 2: the suites that report Reddit as a source

These tools tell you that reddit.com was cited and how often, which is genuinely useful for deciding whether Reddit deserves your attention, and insufficient for deciding which thread to go work on. All three below are broad AI visibility suites where Reddit is one output among many, not the product.

Peec AI is the clearest evidence that off-site tracking is not a rare feature. Its own page copy names third-party sources directly, including "Join r/CRM subreddit discussions", plus LinkedIn, NYT articles and G2. Six engines, daily tracking, four tiers with annual billing. Prices did not render on the pricing page we fetched on 18 August 2026, so we are not stating any. Creator attribution and URL seeding are not stated on their public pages.

Peec AI's homepage, headlined "AI search analytics for marketing teams", above a dashboard tracking visibility, sentiment and position against named competitor brands

Siftly has the taxonomy closest to the off-site argument: "Every citation is classified by source: your own content, media coverage, social platforms, or competitor sites." That owned-versus-earned split is exactly the right cut. Reddit is not named on the page we checked, so treat it as part of the social bucket rather than a confirmed integration. Four engines. Price not published, free audit offered.

Siftly's homepage, headlined "Be the answer AI recommends", with a free audit field, customer logos and a watercolour illustration

Pierview has a feature called Reddit Analyzer, which is the most Reddit-specific naming of any suite here. Its page does not state whether that analyser covers pages the brand does not own, and only ChatGPT is named explicitly among engines, with the rest referred to as "all AI models". Price not published, free brand audit offered. Thin public information, included for breadth.

Pierview's homepage, headlined "Own your brand's narrative in the ChatGPT era", with a free brand audit button and Trustpilot and G2 ratings

A note on one tool we are leaving out. Third-party coverage describes a VerseOdin "Socials" section with Reddit prompt tracking. That is not confirmed on VerseOdin's own pages, which do not mention social or third-party source tracking at all, so we are not counting it. Their published entry price is $799/mo, the highest starting price we verified, which makes them a useful upper anchor and nothing more in a Reddit-specific post.

Level 1: Reddit inside Google is a different measurement

Ahrefs Brand Radar's Reddit feature tracks where brands appear in Reddit results shown in Google Search, which is SERP tracking on Reddit pages, not AI citation tracking of Reddit threads. Both are worth having. They are not substitutes, and the naming makes them easy to confuse.

From the December 2025 product announcement: a Reddit in SERPs beta tracking "where brands appear in Reddit results shown in Google Search", and a YouTube/TikTok beta that "scans video descriptions, transcripts, and titles for mentions". Brand Radar separately covers ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity, plus AI Overviews and AI Mode queries. Access at the time was "available while in beta for all paid Ahrefs customers", moving "into Brand Radar add-ons after beta".

That announcement is nine months old as of publication, and beta status usually moves. Re-check the live Brand Radar page before you plan around any of it. We are attributing strictly to the December 2025 announcement rather than presenting those terms as current.

It earns its place here for a reason most vendor roundups would rather skip: a lot of teams already pay for Ahrefs. If the question is "can I start without a new line item", the honest answer is that you may already own part of this. Creator attribution is not stated on their pages.

The fourth category: tools that post for you

Some products in these search results write and publish Reddit comments on your behalf. That is activation, not measurement, and buying it when you needed a ruler is the most expensive confusion in this category.

RedditMaster describes itself as "an autonomous reddit seo agent... that wins the threads ChatGPT cites and Google ranks". It finds threads, then "writes like you, not like ChatGPT", replies on your behalf, and "learns what landed and doubles down". Prices are not published on the homepage; free tools are offered. Do not read it as a Plug competitor. It creates off-site presence. The seven tools above measure it.

The risk is not theoretical, and it is worth a number. In a 90-day programme, disclosed expert comments on Reddit survived moderation at 83%, 19 of 23, against 18%, 2 of 11, for undisclosed promotion (MaxAEO). Automated posting at volume runs against the grain of that finding, and a removed comment cannot be cited by anything. The full playbook, including what disclosure actually looks like in practice, is in how to get cited on Reddit by ChatGPT.

There are other tools in this activation lane. We have not verified them against their own pages, so we are not naming or describing them.

What none of these tools can tell you, including ours

A Reddit thread has many authors, and a citation resolves to the thread, not to the sentence inside it. This is the ceiling on the whole category and no vendor page states it plainly, so here it is.

When an engine cites a Reddit URL, it cites the page. Your comment might be the one that got quoted. It might be comment forty-one, and the engine lifted the top reply from someone who has never heard of you. Level-two tools cannot separate those cases at all. Level-three tools, ours included, tell you the thread you seeded was cited and which creator you tagged against it, which is a much better answer and still not proof that your words were the quoted words.

A Reddit thread with 41 comments where the AI citation arrow lands on the thread URL rather than on any single comment, beside three cards showing what domain-level, thread-level and raw-answer evidence can each honestly prove
Every tool here, ours included, resolves a citation to the thread URL, not to your comment. Only the raw answer shows whose words were quoted.

The only thing that closes that gap is seeing the raw answer. When you evaluate any tool here, ask whether you can read the actual AI response that produced the citation, not just a count in a dashboard. That is the "evidence" band in how to choose an AI visibility tool, and it is the question we would want a buyer to hold us to.

Two more limits worth setting expectations on:

Per-engine Reddit numbers disagree sharply between studies, so do not benchmark against a headline. The 40%-of-all-answers figure above comes from Semrush via MaxAEO. A separate analysis puts Reddit at 46.7% on Perplexity against 21% on Google AI (Agile Growth Labs), and other trackers report per-engine rates in the single digits over different windows. Those are different metrics measured different ways, and we are not going to resolve them for you. Measure your own category and treat every published rate as context.

Engines cite at wildly different volumes, so a blended citation count means very little. ChatGPT cites a mean of 6.88 sources per answer, Google AI Overviews 12.06, and Perplexity 16.35 (arXiv 2026, via AuthorityTech). A tool that averages across engines is averaging across phenomena. Read Reddit performance per engine or not at all.

Expect this to move slowly

Reddit citations are a slow-moving asset measured by a fast-moving dashboard, so give the programme quarters rather than weeks before you judge it. Pages cited by Perplexity average 1,166 days old, with a 1,064-day mean across AI assistants (Ahrefs, 16,975,000 cited URLs), against roughly 1,432 days for the classic organic results Google ranks. AI assistants do skew fresher than search, but far less than most GEO advice claims.

That has two practical consequences for what you buy. A short trial cannot answer the question you are asking, because durability is measured in months and a 7-day window has no baseline. And check frequency matters more than it looks: answers change between runs, so a monthly spot check and a daily check are not the same measurement at different resolutions, they are different measurements.

Which Reddit citation tracking tool to pick

Organised by the job, not by score.

  • You want to know if Reddit matters in your category, and you own Ahrefs already. Start with Brand Radar and a manual log. Re-verify the current beta terms first.
  • You want a broad AI visibility suite and Reddit reporting is a bonus. Peec AI or Siftly, at level two. Ask both for a price, because neither publishes one.
  • You are seeding specific threads and paying creators. Level three. Sauce at $49/mo if you want the integrations, briefs and leaderboards and can live with five checks a month. Plug at $0 if you want daily checks, ChatGPT at entry and unlimited queries, and can live without a published platform list.
  • You need the content produced as well as measured. Scribble Network, at a $1,500+/mo floor on the tier with a public price.
  • You want the posts written for you. That is the activation lane, not this list, and read the 83%-against-18% disclosure numbers before you automate anything.
  • You have no budget at all. Track it by hand. The method, and the roughly 75 minutes a week it costs, is in tracking citations by hand.

The wider landscape beyond Reddit is in best AI citation tracking tools, the incumbent-specific version is in Profound alternatives, and the vendor-neutral scoring framework is in how to choose an AI visibility tool.

Corrections and updates

Every price, engine count, platform list and feature claim here was verified against the vendor's own live pages on 18 August 2026 and carries that date. The Ahrefs Brand Radar claims come from a December 2025 announcement and are attributed to it rather than presented as current. This page is re-checked every 60 days. If you work at one of these companies and something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it with a visible note.
