Reddit, reviews, and the content you do not own

The places assistants lean on hardest are the places you have the least control over. That is uncomfortable, and it is also the opportunity.

There is a reason assistants lean on community platforms and review sites. They are dense with the exact thing a buying question needs: people describing real experience, in their own words, with enough detail to be useful.

That is also what makes them uncomfortable to depend on. You did not write it, you cannot edit it, and the parts that get quoted are rarely the parts you would have chosen.

You cannot fix, or defend, what you cannot see. Visibility comes first; everything else is downstream of it.

Start with what already exists

Before commissioning anything new, it is worth finding out what is already being quoted about you. Teams are routinely surprised: the piece doing the most work is often a two-year-old comment nobody on the team wrote or paid for.
